I have a confession.

I am really good at overwhelming people.

It is one of my gifts and my curses. When I deliver information, I want to give you the tactical strategy. I want to give you every single way to take action.

But I realized something.

People find that overwhelming. They freeze. It leads to inaction.

If I have done this to you, I am sorry.

But you should know why it happens. There is a lot rolling around inside my head. It is a side effect of my ADHD.

But that same chaos led me to my most valuable skill:

Systems Thinking.

This is the skill you develop when you solve things repeatedly. You start to see the patterns that cause the breakdown.

This is what plagues our industry.

Most operators struggle to make the right choices for their teams. They get stuck in the weeds.

They fail to zoom out high enough to see the real problem in their peripheral vision.

So the next time you face a problem in your shop, stop.

You need to ask one question.

"Did the person fail, or did the system fail?"

If you can answer that honest question, you will stop putting out fires and start building a business.
